Fosterer or Forever Homes Needed: Project CatSnip
Noah’s Ark CARES volunteers collaborate with caregivers in industrial areas.
The Discovery
In November 2015, NA CARES volunteers responded to a call to sterilize a large number of cats at a construction site at Yio Chu Kang Road. During the site check we conducted soon after, one of the construction workers who had been feeding the cats, shared that he was at a loss as to what to do – the less than ten cats they fed at the start were now close to a hundred. What was more heartbreaking were the numbers of kittens who perished amidst the harsh conditions of the construction site.

The Rescue: Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR)
After he realized that the Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) program would help control the cat population, the worker readily made time to help us.
Access to the construction site was limited but over three consecutive weekends, Noah’s Ark CARES volunteers and the construction worker trapped and sent cats for sterilization.

The Challenges
Over time, trapping became a challenge as the remaining unsterilized cats became more wary and difficult to trap. The worker has agreed to continue to trap when his schedule permits. Access to the site is restricted but NA CARES will continue to render medical support.
Thus far sterilization, boarding and medical aid for these cats has amounted to more than S$3,000. A number of cats sent for sterilization needed medical assistance for wounds as well as viral infections from weaker immune systems.

Make space in your heart and home for them
With the help of a volunteer from Cat Welfare Society, we were able to find forever homes for five kittens, including Oreo and Tink.
Nevertheless, there are still kittens looking for safer and more comfortable spaces they can call home, particularly the pair in the picture below:
Please email to noahsarkcares@gmail.com if you can help find the two kittens forever homes and/or to help with the sterilization and medical bills for the cats.
